What began as a quiet, almost windless morning, maybe a bit of a tailwind and a low cloud cover, has developed into a sunny, bright day with a brisk, almost direct headwind that has caused near-whitecapping conditions from the start to around the 1000m mark. Practicing crews seem to be handling the conditions well enough, so it's not too bad, but we won't be expecting fast times in the spares racing today, which run from 1-3 PM.
Also today will be an exhibition race for accessible rowing; one a personal note, longtime friend of row2k Ed Melian will be competing. I'll try to file a report on all these races tonight.
